The McCuistion Program premieres in Las Vegas starting February 7th, with the series Twenty Years of McCuistion – Part One: Education and Our Children.
Time and Channel: 4:00 PM PST – Vegas PBS Rewind, Cox Cable, Channel 110
If you’re in Vegas, tune in and let your Vegas friends and colleagues know. This is one time that “what happens in Vegas should not stay in Vegas”.
For the last several years we’ve attended Freedom Fest- Las Vegas and interviewed key thought leaders at the PBS studio including: Steve Forbes, Steve Moore, Daniel Mitchell, David Boaz and Richard Rahn, Charles Murray (author of The Bell Curve), Michelle Muccio (Acton Institute), Mark Skousen, and numerous others. So, it is with great pride and pleasure that we are now available on the Las Vegas PBS station.
Vegas PBS is southern Nevada’s local PBS affiliate. The company also programs 13 additional television and cable public service media channels and produces over 700 hours a year of local programming. The mission of Vegas PBS is to use telecommunications technology and local outreach activities to support the educational, cultural, health, safety and civic needs of Southern Nevada by creating and acquiring content that informs, entertains, and improves people’s lives.
Vegas PBS also offers multimedia products and educational services directly to classrooms, homes and businesses, along with extensive local outreach efforts targeted at literacy and health. The company serves 1 million a month with its TV and cable channels, records over 12 million classroom student viewings of downloaded digital media every year, enrolls over 7,000 people a year in “for-credit” classes, and receives over 6 million web page visits a year.
In 2010, Vegas PBS will dedicate a new 108,000 square foot Educational Technology Campus which will allow low cost production and storage of digital media on multiple distribution platforms. The goal is to meet the public safety, public education, public health, workforce development and cultural access needs and aspirations of southern Nevada. The facility has been designed to incorporate a large number of sustainable building features, furnishings and equipment standards as established by national certification organizations making it the “greenest” television station in North America.

Dennis and Terry Brock bumped into – not by accident, Richard Viguerie; Chairman of Conservative HQ.com and author of Conservatives Betrayed, at the recent Freedom Fest in Las Vegas.
Richard had quite a lot to say on what Americans need to do to preserve their freedoms. According to Richard,
There are a number of important points I and others made here…I want to emphasize that I’m talking to the fed up American who feels forgotten… issues from health care to taxes, rule of government, and bailouts…the Supreme Court battle right now, this unites all of us who are forgotten. We need to fight this battle and express ourselves.
In October of 2006, Viguerie commented on the Republican party:
The big-spending, high-deficit, morally-deficient Republican Party hasn’t anything to offer conservatives except Halloween scare tactics about the Democrats. But since the GOP majority in Congress has engaged in an unprecedented spending spree, conservatives know that Democrats cannot be any worse and that divided government may lead to less spending,
He continued,
And conservatives have learned that, while Republicans sometimes provide significant symbolism on social issues, in truth, many of them have a disdain for values voters.
He added,
Republicans should enter into a new contract with the voters to include such items as:
- A complete termination of “earmarks” and pork barrel spending in appropriations bills. Opposition to all increases in non-defense spending.
- A constitutional amendment to balance the budget and limit taxes.
- Making permanent all of the temporary tax cuts and pushing for significant additional tax relief.
- Recommit to securing the border with Mexico to stop the invasion of illegal aliens.
- Fighting hard for the confirmation of strict constructionists to the federal judiciary.
- Energy independence through increased exploration for oil, development of coal resources, and expansion of nuclear energy.
- Appointment of many more Reagan-type conservatives, rather than big-business establishment Republicans.
Let’s hear what he has to say at Freedom Fest.

Dennis McCuistion, Host of the McCuistion program, and Terry Brock, professional speaker and marketing coach, with an emphasis on optimizing technology, recently attended the 2009 Freedom Fest event, in Las Vegas. Attendees and speakers read like a “who’s who” of economists, CEO’s and thought leaders. This year’s focus, as you might expect, was on the economy.
This week straight from Las Vegas: Dennis McCuistion, Host of the McCuistion program, and Terry Brock, business consultant and journalist, are conducting short interviews with luminaries at the 2009 Freedom Fest conference, which reads like a who’s who of economists, CEO’s and thought leaders.
Freedom Fest is an annual festival where “free minds meet” to celebrate “great books, great ideas, and great thinkers” in an open-minded society. It is independent, non-partisan, and not affiliated with any organization or think tank.
Founded and produced by Mark Skousen, (who’s been a guest on our program, A Conversation with Mark Skousen) Freedom Fest invites the “best and the brightest” from around the world to talk, strategize, socialize, and celebrate liberty. Mark comments,” Freedom Fest is open to all and is purely egalitarian, where speakers, attendees, and exhibitors are treated as equals.” Freedom Fest has separate forums on philosophy, science and technology, art and entertainment, economics, geo-politics, finance, and literature, among others. There’s a debate room, where a new hot topic is debated every hour, general sessions with world-renown experts, and a special one-hour time with 6-7 “bright new stars” – up and coming scholars who have something to contribute.
McCuistion and Brock interviewed Steve Forbes, who commented, “Capitalism will save America from the excesses of the Federal Reserve, the Bush Administration’s excesses and the stimulus packages of the Obama Administration. Tea parties and other indications show that we will turn these problems around.”
They spoke with Fred Foldvary who said: “The Depression of 2008 was laid out in a paper I wrote in 1997 and a booklet published in 2007. A combination of loose Federal Reserve policy combined with real estate speculation caused the problem.”
-AND-
Michael Tanner of CATO, “The Obama health care plan will not cut costs or cover all the uninsured or increase quality. What it will lead to is increased costs, delays in getting care and a massive bureaucracy allocating resources for consumers and healthcare professionals.”
Stay tuned for more comments and upcoming on the spot video interviews, live from Las Vegas.
