Airing this Sunday, September 11th at 12:30 PM on KERA, Channel 13

Our guest: Dan Burrus is the author of Flash Foresight: Seven Radical Principles That Will Transform Your Life and is considered one the world’s leading forecasters, corporate strategists and visionaries. In the early 1990′s, he joined us for two programs based on his then best seller: Technotrends.

In his newest book, Flash Foresight, Dan Burrus takes a look at what we can do to transform our lives in this century and decade and pokes holes at traditional ways of looking at the world and how we run our businesses.

He asks, “wouldn’t it be amazing if you could predict the future and be right”?

Burrus states that we can indeed predict the future. And we can have a better future as a result. Dan bases his predictions on scientific principles. He tells us, “we all have a sense of foresight, but we don’t know how to trust or use it, yet it is a sense we can accurately make sense of.”

In Part One of Flash Foresight, Dan Burrus gives input on the key points in his book related to how to use your sense of foresight to shape a better future for yourself and your family. “Not flash hindsight because we can’t change the past,” which is what many of us do. He asks that we:

Start with Certainty:

Transformational change brings personal opportunity. We’re in the process of changing everything we do. And humans like change, contrary to popular belief. We need to blow away the thought of bad news and believe that under it all there is a tremendous need to discover opportunity.

He counsels us to:

Redefine and Reinvent your career. While it used to be job security, now it’s about adaptability. We can and must learn new things. This part one of Flash Foresight will truly help you determine the future you.

So thanks for joining us on a must watch conversation about things that matter…

Niki McCuistion

Airing Sunday, April 24th at 12:30 PM on KERA, Channel 13

The last several years have hit many homeowners who have little to no ability to repay their mortgages. Fourteen million of these homeowners have no equity in their homes and owe the lender more than the property’s appraised value.

Foreclosures may be up, however the foreclosure process varies from state to state. In some states short notice is given by lenders. In others, homeowners have 9 months to 18 months before a foreclosure is posted.

What can lenders and homeowners do to work together? Is it at all possible for both the lender to profit and the homeowner to keep their home?

Joining Dennis McCuistion to discuss the various options to foreclosure and how to work with a lender to keep from being foreclosed are the following panelists:

Richard Bitner – Author of: Confessions of a Subprime Lender

Linda Davis – Housing Director: Consumer Credit Counseling Service

The face of homelessness is changing. Join us this Sunday, November 21, 2010 on KERA, Channel 13 at 12:30 PM as we discuss this issue and the hope of resolution.

The face of homelessness is changing. Join us this Sunday, November 21, 2010 on KERA at 12:30 pm as we discuss this issue and the hope of resolution.

The numbers on the growing homeless issue are staggering. Today’s recession may force over 1.5 million into homelessness over the next year, according to estimates by The National Alliance to End Homelessness. Although homelessness is a difficult number to measure definitively, it appears that more people – especially families – are sleeping in shelters, living in their cars, and taking up residence in tent communities.

Many cities around the country have taken major strides in working with the homeless in new ways with great success. New Ways of Transitioning the Homeless focuses not so much on the root causes of homelessness such as mental health and addictions, but instead ways to successfully transition them into permanent housing in the community.

Joining the discussion are panelists:

Mike Rawlings - Appointed by the Mayor of Dallas as Dallas’ Homeless Czar

Mike Faenza – President and CEO of the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance

Bill Thompson - Executive Director of the Union Gospel Mission

Lynne Sipiora – Executive Director of the Samaritan Inn in Collin County, TX

Charles Gasparino discusses today’s economic crisis, the financial and political debacle that led to it, and the role and responsibilities Ben Bernanke, Hank Paulson and others had in contributing to the global meltdown in our economy. He argues that the present day situation had its roots in irresponsible actions taken 30 years ago and the same may happen again if the systemic problem is not resolved. He states that if we want answers, we need to look back at the players then and the key figures today… which are still built on yesterday’s greed and risk taking.

Joining host Dennis McCuistion is Charles Gasparino. Gasparino is a critically acclaimed investigative journalist, CNBC TV personality and author of The Sellout: 30 Years That Led Up to the Financial Crisis.

Gasparino goes back to 1980 and how Wall Street’s “love affair” with risk precipitated the financial meltdown of today. He talks about the advent of mortgage-backed securities, the packaging of mortgages to bonds and the selling of those to Wall Street. Gasparino comments on the bond market situation in 1986 and how Alan Greenspan, the former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank, lowered interest rates in 1987 and bailed out Wall Street.
