The Foundation for Responsible Television is made possible by the contributions of our sponsors and by donations from viewers like you.

Our major sponsors include:
The Hatton W. Sumners Foundation
A Foundation for the Study and Teaching of the Science of Self-Government.

The Hatton W. Sumners Foundation was established in 1949 by Hatton W. Sumners, United States Congressman from Texas. The Foundation is pleased to have provided the grant to the Foundation for Responsible Television for the Middle East Project.

The purpose of the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation, as stated in its governing instrument is, "...to encourage the study, teaching and research into the science and art of self-government, to the end that the American people may understand the fundamental principles of democracy and be guided thereby in shaping governmental policies."

To that end, the Foundation supports scholarship programs in related disciplines, as well as lectures, seminars, academic contests and other educational programs on the fundamental principles of American self-government and free enterprise and when appropriate, their relationships with current public policy issues.

The Hillcrest Foundation
The Hillcrest Foundation of Dallas was founded in 1957 by Mrs. W. W. Caruth, Sr. (Earle Clark Caruth), to provide financial support to qualified charitable organizations in Texas for the advancement of education, the promotion of health, and the relief of poverty.

Mrs. Caruth was related to a pioneer family who had settled in North Texas in 1848. Over several generations, the Caruth family purchased land, owned and managed farms and ranches, and later developed the properties as Dallas grew into a major metropolitan area.

The Hillcrest Foundation was established to carry on the tradition of Caruth family generosity and their legacy of support to the people of Texas. In 1995, the trustees of The Hillcrest Foundation included the founder's daughter-in-law, Mrs. W. W. Caruth, Jr. (Mabel P. Caruth), and the founder's grandson, Mr. D. Harold Byrd, Jr. In 1994 the Foundation reported assets in excess of $107 million and distributed 176 grants totaling more than $5 million.
