The Foundation for Responsible Television has received a grant from the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation for the Study &
Teaching of Self Government, Inc., to film a series of documentaries for the McCuistion TV Program (KERA-Public Television Dallas). We
will be looking at the major conflicts between our cultures, the differences between Islam and Radical Islam, the present role
of women in Islamic societies and success stories of what works well in present day M.E. countries. We want to go deeper
than what most media are presently portraying. These objective, balanced documentaries will serve as educational programs
for key decision makers, with a school curriculum and study guides for history and social studies teachers.
The Foundation for Responsible Television's purpose is to impact the quality of television. To this end we produce and distribute on Public Television, the McCuistion Program, an intellectually stimulating, objective exchange of ideas that challenges prevailing attitudes about things that matter. The respect our work has earned us in the United States, (because of our 13 years of objective balanced reporting) is one of the reasons we were chosen for this project. We educate our viewers with indepth information and strongly believe in the philosophy that we first must seek to understand, then to be understood. We very much want to portray fairness, balance and historical context especially in this project. We anticipate our work will result in at least three to four hours of Public Television television documentaries as well as DVDs, which will be distributed to educators and decision makers across the United States.
We went to the Middle East in the Spring of 2004, Niki has taken four additional interview trips. As many of you are aware, our first two hours on Terrorism were scheduled to air on January 29, 2006 on Channel 13 in Dallas.
