China: From a Historical Perspective, Their Place in the 21st Century
Poverty In Dallas

China: You can’t pick up a newspaper or turn on a TV set without hearing about China today…and the news is not very positive. Slower economic growth, turmoil in their stock markets, citizens being arrested for corruption, and with all this, has come a worldwide collapse of commodity prices not the least of which has been in the price of oil.

Joining us on McCuistion are experts on the present situation in China:

In the last 10 years respected media has portrayed China as “buying up the world” to the “great fall of China”, “the coming collapse of China”; documenting its tremendous rise and fall, collapse and rise again. When President Xi Jinping took office he was well aware of the deep seated problems of inequality and profound corruption that is blatantly talked about and his government has made significant strides in correcting the situation.

Members of the People’s Liberation Army as well as Communist party officials have been indicted and the populous is encouraged about the actions being taken to root out the problem. However it will be a very long time before the government will be able to”control the dragon”.

China has been modernizing for the last 35 years and it has brought a significant number of people out of poverty into a more comfortable way of life. China has acknowledged it must engage in economic reform and clean up its system. In the last several years it has made tremendous progress; transitioning from an industrial country to a consumer driven country. Whether this can be sustained is questioned.

We are indeed a global economy and with China’s output second only to ours, China’s challenges are definitely not good for America. It is critical we have a better perspective in which to judge the daily events coming out of China.

Our experts give a unique political, social and economic outlook on the situation in China today and what must be done so it maintains its status as a world power.

Join us, as we talk about things that matter… with people who care. And please don’t forget that for the last 25 years it is you, our viewer who keeps us on the air.
